What a place! Nastro Azzurro was a complete upgrade from the last hotel we were transferred from, and it honestly made my wife and me so happy. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with warmth and professionalism. The reception staff were friendly, and the hotel manager was fantastic. The lobby itself looked great and set the tone for what was to come. The TUI rep was incredibly engaged—always checking in with guests, smiling, and even greeted us personally, which was a really thoughtful touch. Reception staff handled our luggage and gave us a helpful introduction to the hotel, including shuttle bus times, a map of the grounds, and timings for the various areas of the hotel. Walking to our room was a lovely experience, with wisteria lining the outdoor walkway. Once inside, we were impressed by how spacious the room was. We had a large first-floor balcony, a coffee machine, and a fridge—all nice bonuses. The bathroom was modern and clean, and the room’s natural colours and design made it feel calming and fresh. Next up was the pool area, which we loved. The main pool was heated, clean, and perfectly positioned to catch the sun—ideal for tanning. Towels were available there and could be exchanged every 2–3 days. As we explored the hotel grounds, we discovered a peaceful garden, a tennis area, and a second, circular pool. Although not heated, this pool was unique with a pebble-covered floor that gave it a beach-like feel. Dinner each evening was a great experience. The head waiter was friendly and had a great sense of humour, making the evenings even more enjoyable. Most nights feature a buffet-style meal, with a set starter and main course on select nights. The salad and dessert bars were well stocked, though if you have a sweet tooth like we do, it’s best to arrive early—desserts can go quickly! There was a nice variety, including cakes, ice cream, and traditional options. The only downside was being charged €3 for water at each meal—it would have been nice if water was included. After dinner, from 9 PM to midnight, there was live music in the lobby/bar area, which we really enjoyed. The staff were attentive and regularly came around to take drink orders, so we didn’t need to get up or wait long. The bed was surprisingly comfortable—even though it was two singles pushed together, they were locked in place so they didn’t shift apart, which worked perfectly. Breakfast and lunch were fairly standard for a hotel of this type, but a chef prepared fresh pancakes at breakfast, and lunch often included something different each day. Sweet treats were available at all meals, which was a nice touch. In terms of location, it’s not ideal for walking into Sorrento—it takes about an hour on foot. However, the hotel provides a free shuttle bus at set times. For very early or late trips, you only pay €2. Just be sure to book your shuttle in advance to secure a spot. Another lovely discovery was about a 45-minute walk from the hotel—a charming, free wine tasting at a historic winery. The location is home to the oldest lemon grove in Sorrento. At the tasting, you can sample a range of house wines and buy bottles for €10–13, or even pick up a litre of house wine in a plastic container for just €3. It’s a peaceful and authentic experience well worth the walk. The TUI reps were amazing throughout our stay. They were helpful, informative, and made booking excursions easy. If you're planning to visit Pompeii or Herculaneum, I highly recommend booking a guided tour—it makes a huge difference in understanding what you're seeing. If you’re considering a trip to the Amalfi Coast, there’s a local bus that costs just €10 for a day rider. You can catch it from a stop about a 10-minute walk from the hotel, but I’d recommend taking the shuttle to Sorrento and buying the tickets in advance from the train station. The tickets are only activated on first use, so you can prepare early. This approach also gives you a better chance of getting a seat—otherwise, you could be standing around waiting for quite a while.
Rooms are very dated and no sound proofing in the main building. I’d reccomend upgrading to an annexe room. Main building rooms are noisy, always hear other people in their rooms yawning, coughing and other activities if you know what I mean. Always hear foot steps. It’s directly above the main lobby where there is is loud music every night. The ‘partial sea view’ upgrade is not worth it as you see some water through a crack in the trees. Service is quick. Rooms clean. Smart TV with Netflix and Amazon prime etc. no free water, is €3 a bottle. Pool is rather cold even in June but very clean and always able to get a sunbed. Can’t complain about the food it was all good and warm and plenty of variety. Wouldn’t recommend for any fussy eaters. I will come again albeit avoiding the main building. All drinks ordered throughout your stay go on a tab you clear at the end of your visit, we found someone was able to order drinks in our name on occasion costing us 20€ the hotel said they were not able to fix.
We had a nice stay for 7 nights at this hotel, however we are unlikely to stay again. The location of this hotel is picturesque and the staff were also really welcoming and friendly throughout our stay. However, there were parts of our experience which made this hotel not feel like a 4* as advertised. We had a room in the main building with a bathroom which was outdated. The bath plug was initially stuck down meaning it could not be used. After mentioning this to reception a member of staff came to our room and used a hammer and a drill to remove it. The shuttle bus times are quite limited, with half of the seats broken and not staying in the correct position. It can book up quickly and needs to be done the night before. Areas of the grounds and gardens do not feel well kept, for example the jacuzzi's felt outdated, did not work properly and were not used. Overall it's a nice hotel if you're planning to stay on the resort itself and not travel into sorrento, but it can feel outdated.
