My husband and I just came back from a trip to Campbell River and we had the most enjoyable time at Naturally Pacific resort. The most commendable thing about this resort is the staff. Everyone was smiling and greeted us wherever we go, whatever they were doing. Another part of the stay we really liked was the size of the room. Even with a king size bed, we had so much space to unpack our luggage, sit down and relax. Nice to have a separate toilet room so we can shower and do use toilet at the same time. Balcony had a partial ocean view (too hot to enjoy but I'm sure it's a nice feature for many people). We are not golfers but enjoyed the pool and other facilities at the resort, like the hot tub, restaurant, and fire pit. We loved fire pit so much and spent hours just sitting and sipping our drinks, watching the sun set over the golf course. We are definitely going back and already planning our next visit!
We stayed here for six nights and the entire experience was flawless. Everything was spotless, inside the building and out. Our room was very comfortable and the golf course/mountain view from our balcony was fantastic. We had three meals and they were all delicious. We also appreciated the wait staff visits while relaxing at the fire pits in the evening. This resort costs more than any other places in town but it appeared by far to be the nicest. If it fits in your budget, Naturally Pacific Resort is well worth it!
I want to start with the positives: The resort has beautiful, modern facilities, excellent customer service, and thoughtful amenities for dogs—including a fantastic dog run. The spa is absolutely out of this world and one of the best I’ve experienced. That said, my overall stay for my birthday was disappointing, mostly due to booking issues that could have been avoided. I chose this resort after doing my research because it seemed very pet-friendly, boasting dedicated dog amenities. I loved the idea of relaxing on the pool deck with patio drink service, and the spa looked incredible. My plan was a special weekend away with my mom and my 20lb pug. Wanting a comfortable, spacious room where I could sleep in on my birthday, I booked the executive suite and selected “bringing a dog” during the reservation process. Nowhere on the website did it clearly state that this room type was not pet-friendly, and the booking system allowed me to proceed without warning. I was genuinely excited about this trip for weeks. After driving three hours to the resort, I was told at check-in that dogs were not permitted on the executive suite floor. We were asked to wait while a manager (in a meeting) was consulted. Eventually, I was informed that I could only stay in a downgraded room with either one king bed or two queens. I accepted the king bed, but the disappointment lingered—it wasn’t the birthday experience I had planned. Had I known in advance, I could have adjusted my expectations, arranged alternate care for my dog, or chosen a different resort altogether. I truly don’t understand why: - The website doesn’t clearly indicate which rooms are/aren’t pet-friendly. - The system allows pet bookings for non-pet rooms. - This issue wasn’t caught until the moment I arrived. To their credit, the staff did their best to make things right, offering a bottle of wine and a $100 dining credit, which I appreciated. Still, the overall trip felt overshadowed by that initial frustration. Other notes: Dinner service on the sunset patio was underwhelming. My mom and I ordered the surf and turf sandwich ($42), which arrived missing prawns because “the grill was too hot.” We waited 10 minutes for them, and even with the “extra prawn” added, the total was only three. I would have preferred a better prawn-to-steak balance for the price. The steak was great. The pool area is lovely with poolside drink service, but it would be nice to have designated adult-only hours. More accessible seating (armless chairs) on the sunset patio would be a welcome improvement. I noticed that there were no armless chairs at Carve as well. The spa alone would make me consider returning, and I would happily become a repeat guest if clearer communication on pet-friendly room options and a few service improvements were made.
