Naturhotel Edelweiss Wagrain

One of the finest hotels in all of Austria! Very quiet surroundings, every person from the staff was friendly and helpful, the food was excellent and lots of opportunities for both outdoor activities (hiking, biking, etc.) and enjoying some relaxing moments in the spa. Highly recommended!

Let's start with the good impressionen. The hotel is very nice and the rooms are well decorated. The views are stunning. The communal areas are just beautiful. All in all this is a very nice hotel, all the staff is friendly and the manager is very willing to find solutions. I would reccomend this hotel for couples and Singles without kids. I would not come here as a family again. Architectural there is room for improvement regarding family rooms, which are indeed two double rooms with two doors and a blend - the blend cannot be hidden in the family room mode and is sticking out in the room. The rooms have no aircon and no fridge. As we were travelling for some weeks, we had some laundry. While they don't provide a guest washing machine, they were super helpful to find solutions. Thank you! Also hike recommendations by the reception were very good. The the price point is rather on the high side - we pay ~ 750€ a night. Of course, this comes with expecatations. For afternoon buffet, the service and quality of food are not holding up to this. The quality of the food was medium at best.. While the check-in was nice and friendly, there were some downs afterwards. Staff is not aligned on where you are allowed to sit for the afternoon buffet and are rather unfriendly.. I asked before at the reception and the lady clearly stated that I can sit everywhere - so I dont want to be send away while eating. the buffet was not refilled and we had to ask and wait. After coming back to point this out, staff at the reception was condescending. I really hope dinner and breakfast will be better. Update: Dinner and Breakfast are good, quite standard, no surprises on the good or bad side. Kids pool was "closed for maintenace" on Wednesday. This was not communicated before. Update: I wonder very much what they did during maintenace. I am definately not willing to spend any time there. Update 2: The sign for closure clearly stated Wednesday. It was removed on Thursday and doors were open - clearly no sign "restricted area". I find it challenging here is that you very clearly state that Children are not allowed after 16.30 at the main pool. This was not revoked despite the clearly bad state the children's pool is in. I romoved the picture, still in my opionion there is much room for improvement regarding communication. We got some drinks at the bar and the barkeeper was very helpful and very friendly. What is pretty cool, they have snakes in their natural outside pool. They are not dangerous at all ;)

Everything apart of the view and location is rather disappointing. 5-course menu was not enjoyable at all: food quality (especially the cooking oil) was bad, dinner was completely overpriced. So it is better to eat somewhere outside. In addition, the dishes were dirty and the buffet was not restocked. We had to actively ask for it and wait. Very poor choice for vegetarians. The Spa zone is very small, was fully packed, not relaxing and loud. Too much light and drinks were empty and not restocked. Rooms were ok.
