Great hotel right across the street from the renovated Summer Palace. Good restaurant and the desk people speak English.
Good for wedding couples - mine was in 29 Aug 2017 in St Petersburg Russia, and we stayed in that Hotel with my spouse and her dear friend.
Restaurant, Duck and Drake has rip-off culture. I asked if I could change the type of potatoes with my meal from fried potato wheels to small amount of French fries. I was told that I would have to pay the price on the menu for the fries as a side dish. The beer comes as 0.5 litre, but only 7/8th full, profit of 100% on every 7 or 8th glass (not bad). One meal states you may order a side dish with it, but you are then charged for the side dish. As a foreign guest, I felt that I was getting special treatment, but not the nice one, whether they just don't like the British or it's more general. I ordered items on a number of occasions before local people, but received them after the local people. The room had tea making facility, but the hotel would provide creamer or instant coffee sachets. I could only use the swimming pool while I was out during the day working, not in the evening when I was in the hotel,.
