From the moment we considered booking, our experience with New Road Hotel was outstanding. The manager's communication from the start was excellent, ensuring all our questions were answered and making us feel welcome before we even arrived. Upon arrival, the positive impression only grew. The entire staff was incredibly attentive, going above and beyond our expectations to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. Their genuine warmth and helpfulness truly made a difference. We were also thoroughly impressed with the dining experience. Both dinner and breakfast were of high quality, with delicious options that clearly showcased fresh ingredients and skilled preparation. Beyond the superb service and food, the interior design of the hotel was truly unique and perfectly suited the location. It created a wonderful atmosphere that felt both stylish and inviting. We would highly recommend New Road Hotel to anyone looking for a memorable and exceptionally pleasant stay. We will undoubtedly be booking again in the future!
Pros : nice modern decor , large comfortable bed . Dressing table area a good idea , would benefit from a built in light as the rooms are quite shaded . Cons : upon arrival felt like I was being questioned as to why I’d asked for extra pillows then had to move rooms due to multiple ants in first room . Communal drinks area with drinks dispenser , would have expected a kettle and drink options in the room. Breakfast unappetising , choice limited , hash browns soggy , poached eggs overcooked . Bathroom sink plug not holding water and there was no privacy due to glass walls . View from window scaffolding , weeds and workmen. Would have expected more from a 4 star hotel given the cost .
If you like ants in your room, then this might just be the hotel for you. I booked four nights here and ended up switching rooms four times due to constant problems. Every single room had issues. The first night, I was given a street-facing room with absolutely no soundproofing—if you're a light sleeper, forget about sleeping at all. In Room 323, I found ants crawling on the furniture and even on the bed. I reported this to the staff at night, and the response I got was, “That’s a common problem.” They offered to move me to a smaller room, which felt more like a downgrade than a solution. Even after they claimed to have deep-cleaned the room, the ants came back. On my final night, I had to change rooms in the middle of the night because of ants again after I change a new room a horrible smell coming from the bathroom drains. Still, the hotel offered no compensation, no apology, and no effort to make things right. I’m not someone who usually leaves bad reviews or complains about minor issues. I’ve lived in the UK for four years and stayed in many hotels across the country. This was by far the worst experience I’ve ever had. The only redeeming factor was one female receptionist who seemed to actually care and tried to help. But overall, it feels like this hotel survives on unsuspecting tourists with no intention of providing good service or building customer loyalty. Avoid at all costs. You’ve been warned.👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎
