NH Berlin Alexanderplatz

Modern hotel with fantastic rooms. Breakfast was great. Friendly staff. Only downside was that it's not so locally as we thought based on the name, closest tram station was 5 minutes away and then 10-15 minutes ride to Alexanderplatz.

The service at the reception varied greatly from receptionist to receptionist. There were a few who did not take responsibility. It created a bad atmosphere because we had booked a double bed but got 2 single beds because there were no more rooms with double beds when we arrived at 7 pm. The next morning we could change rooms, but that required us to have our stuff stored. An alternative solution was that a large thick mattress pad could make it satisfactory for us. The young receptionist who welcomed us did not know anything about this little trick. So internal communication and training could perhaps be an optimization. I also sense from the atmosphere among the bar and reception staff that the atmosphere is not quite at its best. Large hotel, greater distance from the guests, a shame it has to be experienced like this. A small dispute about renting bicycles also created a bad atmosphere. There is a lack of closeness from the staff... Room for improvement... Therefore only 3 out of 5 stars.

I understand that this is a chain hotel and should have expected service to reflect this. They don't need to be nice to patrons , so they aren't. We stayed here for here for three nights and thought as a chain it would be really nice. I was completely wrong. This hotel is a splurge to stay at- for me anyway- I thought you would have been treated a bit better. On arrival we weren't even greeted with a hello. There was absolutely no friendlies from any of the front of house staff whatsoever. Some didn't even look at you when they spoke to you. We weren't even told that the hotel had a sauna untilt the last day when we were talking to other guests. The bar staff also were just plain rude. They didn't want to be bothered or answer your questions. I wasn't prepared to spend €21 per person for breakfast so I can't speak to that, however I did get the fish for dinner for €24 it was a joke. No salad and quite tasteless. It wasn't the nicest of environments either, just a nothing hotel, unmemorable and wish I had of spent my hard earned money somewhere else. I got an email for feedback regarding our stay and answered honestly and that someone could contact me , what I received what an automated response which is what I expect with this review.
