NH Gran Hotel Casino Extremadura

Stayed for 2 weeks. Very clean and comfortable rooms! I really loved having a Nespresso machine and a mini fridge in the room. The bathroom; shower, tub, and vanity were luxurious and very modern. I would love to come back. Hopefully I can win in the casino next time.

I'm sure that the USA uses a different rating system than Europe. This Hotel claims to be a 5 star but they have no bellman, no valet, no pool and no spa and lacks maintenance. Broken floor boards (in the US this would be an automatic lawsuit), vandalized elevators with scratched posters and graffiti, worn out dining tables and chairs and broken hand dryers in public restrooms. This is a 3 star hotel (at best) as per US standards. The casino is morbid and depressing, with boring machines and a single black jack table. There is no loud machines or people celebrating winnings or fun. All Staff from pit boss to servers look like they are the ones losing money. No smiles at all. Casino Mgr and Staff shouldn't take smoke breaks in the same balcony used by guests.

We come to Badajoz quite often and we usually stay at the NH. This time our experience was horrible. The room temperature was above 23 degrees Celsius sometimes reaching 24 degrees. It was a sauna inside. We called the front desk multiple times and although they were very professional the situation was not resolved and we couldn't sleep. Basically what happens is that the temperature is controlled centrally and you can't change it in the room. During the night the cooling is turned off so the temperature keeps rising. And awful experience and we couldn't sleep after two nights so we decided to leave. We will not return as this is not acceptable. The front desk staff were very professional but it doesn't change the fact that a simple commodity was horrible.
