I recently stayed at NH Wien City hotel located on Mariahilfer Strasse in Vienna, and I had a wonderful experience. The hotel is centrally located, just a few minutes' walk from the historic city center and very close to the metro station, which makes it easy to explore the city. The rooms are spacious and quiet, providing a comfortable retreat after a day of sightseeing. One of the highlights of my stay was the kindness of the staff. Everyone, especially the receptionists and the breakfast team, was exceptionally friendly and helpful. Speaking of breakfast, it was a delightful experience! The buffet was rich and offered a variety of options to suit all tastes. I highly recommend this hotel for families with children. It provides a great base for exploring Vienna while ensuring a comfortable and enjoyable stay.
My family and I are regular guests at this hotel. I can count at least 6 times I stayed there over the past 4 years. Unfortunately this last stay will definitely be our last. The state of maintenance inside the rooms is deteriorating noticeably. The staff's attitude/courtesy/politeness in communicating with guests seems to be a recurring problem - we've had a couple of incidents during different stays. I am not sure if this has become part of the working culture there or not. I must insist that the older staff have always been amazing and offer a service that is top level. It's the newer employees that seem to be the problem. Housekeeping kept trying to wiggle their way out of cleaning the rooms saying things like "we are at full capacity" etc... We had to insist on it every day which became quite a hassle. This should never happen in a hotel. Otherwise, we should have gotten an Airbnb and be done with it. The breakfast buffet has always been very basic - but you could order omelette orders and such so it was fine. During our last stay they said they would not do it because they were at fully capacity so breakfast was quite disappointing. Overall, even though the location in my view is unbeatable, the guest experience itself has deteriorated so much that I am firmly sure that I will not repeat it again. There must be better options out there.
We are expressing a strong dissatisfaction with the facility, team and asset during our stay. From the entry of the hotel, our child greeted and got excited to meet the team with friendliness. Absolutely neglected, no greetings and staff at the reciption not welcoming and pretending busy at the counter we were the only family at the desk ( Angelina) came across desinteressted, very rude and not cooperative, room not ready at 1pm as we requested for early check in, after a long night and expected empathy for providing a room ASAP, therefor we requested for a call or text once the room is ready which was not attended till 4pm once we returned. Very disappointed from the lack of personal interest of service to people. Once we arrived back at around 4pm to checkin, we saw her eating at the backoffice she stated "I finished my duty and leave now!" and she left without any interest or concern to get things right. The smell across the hotel is old and Moldy which is in the room too. We got the room which was very bad located as expected on pictures on bcom page view over Maria Hilferstr., shower amenities were all empty!! Mattress are very bad, we requested for mattress add on for our child, which was not attended and even shower amenities was never refiled for the enter stay ( shampoo, shower gel, etc.) The curtains, chairs and general furniture are stained scratched and broken, our child got hurt on the flooring which is broken and wood stands out!! Unbelievable condition room Nr 401. The light bulp next to bed is broken too and never got replaced. We booked for 2 adults plus child and daily only 2 towels were provided instead of 3. The sofa bed must be removed, its painful, the worse quality and not possible to use as a bed for children. We requested on day one to meet the general manager Mr Thomas, to address such challenges and service several time, but was never acknowledged also which shows the level of service and bad communication this hotels provides. The overall stay was not as expected, made us feel uncomfortable every time entering and we don't recommend such hotel to book. We highly recommend to refurbish the asset and downgrade to a midscale 3 star rating max. Hostel for youth could also be an option. To summarize at check out we expressed all the above and asked again to contact the GM which was promised. Until now no interest or email has reached us.
