It takes 30 minutes by seaplane from the capital Male to the island. The welcome is very nice, the island is quiet and calm. We stayed in a villa overlooking the sea, especially the bathroom and toilet were old and had a damp smell. The room was spacious enough. Cleaning service was provided every day. The food was really delicious and the cooks were very helpful and cheerful. Everyone working there was extremely cheerful and helpful. Sharks can accompany you while swimming, which is a bit scary. Our 4-night stay was generally good. We recommend it. The only thing I can suggest is that the meal times, especially lunch and dinner, should be quite long and more snacks should be offered.

Very Disappointing Experience at Nika Island Resort & Spa Our family’s long-awaited 5-star vacation in the Maldives ended in frustration due to the resort’s poor handling of our departure, turning what should have been a perfect holiday into a stressful ordeal. Background We had a trip for seven persons including five children (ages 15, 13, 8, 6, and 3). To ensure a comfortable trip, we booked the Sultan Suite at Nika Island Resort & Spa, our second stay there in six months. Our previous visit in November 2024 had been smooth, so we trusted the resort for another luxury getaway. Since traveling with young children is challenging, we planned meticulously: Booked direct, flexible flights to Male (costing ~40% of the total trip) to avoid missed connections. Confirmed all transfers with the resort in advance. The first 10 days were wonderful—great service, beautiful surroundings. But the last day ruined everything. The Problem: Missed Flight Due to Resort’s Negligence Misleading Departure Information We were told our seaplane to Male would depart at 13:40 (Nika time) / 11:40 (Male time). Our international flight was at 14:10 (Male time), giving us a tight but manageable window. No Updates or Assistance During Delay After settling the bill at 12:30, we waited at the pier with no updates. By 13:40, the plane hadn’t arrived, yet no staff informed us of any delay. At 14:00, I went to reception myself—they assured us “everything was under control.” Only at 14:45, when the plane arrived (for new guests!), did staff appear—still no warning that we’d miss our flight. Avoidable Consequences The seaplane took off at 14:55 (Nika time). We landed in Male at 13:30 (Male time)—5 minutes after check-in closed. Had the resort warned us earlier, we could’ve rebooked our flexible tickets at no extra cost. Instead, we lost them entirely. Poor Compensation & Broken Promises The resort offered an alternative flight but failed to mention it was with a low-cost airline (uncomfortable seats, no proper meals). Our 4-hour Dubai layover at night was exhausting, especially for the kids—yet no lounge access or assistance was provided. No follow-up after we returned home. Unacceptable Service for a “Luxury” Resort The resort advertises “Service Excellence” (quoting Ron Kauffman), but our experience was “Unbelievable” in the worst way. The lack of urgency, communication, and accountability was shocking. No response to our complaint after two months shows their disregard for guest satisfaction. Conclusion We invested significant time and money for a stress-free family vacation, but Nika Island Resort’s negligence and indifference turned it into a nightmare. We hope this feedback prevents other families from similar disappointment. Expected Better. Received Worse.
