We had dinner here twice, each time the food was incredible, the staff were lovely and the atmosphere was great! Can highly recommend eating here or having cocktails at sundown. The rooms also looked lovely if we come back we would definitely stay here!
Please ignore the negative reviews - they are not from people who have ever been to Madagascar, or to Africa. This is an amazing hotel. If you’re expecting a European or US standard that’s not what you’ll get anywhere on the island, but for Nosy Be we had an exceptional stay. The hotel and grounds are stunning, with green gardens and paths everywhere. There are quite a few rooms scattered around the property - we initially got a big newer room but it was facing the construction site (finished in summer), so we asked to move to smaller and older rooms opposite the pool, which were perfect. Air con, nice decoration, warm water with good pressure, bath robes, a mosquito net and comfy beds. The bar is stunning - you’re having cocktails on the sand, and the restaurant is delicious. All of our dinners and breakfasts were very tasty, with a lot of choice. The staff were all lovely and helpful, especially at the bar and during breakfast, and the beach is beautiful with lots of opportunities to snorkel or walk along it. We had several massages at the spa that were all to a really high standard. I’m shocked at the bad reviews, which initially made me hesitant to book. The one strange thing is there’s a policy to change guests’ pool/beach towels only once a week, which we didn’t encounter in the other cheaper hotels we stayed at in the island. The excursion to Iranja that was organised was amazing aside from the boat being completely open, and having to shield from the sun for 1h30 just one way. Aside from that, I am excited to return soon!
I can recommend this place as a good option to stay—probably one of the best on the island. While the rooms are small and simply decorated, the common areas are excellent. The breakfast was disappointing, not tasty, poor choice and with insects around the food, which is concerning given the €10 price tag. However, the dinner options were quite good. I felt sick the day after their barbecue, though it’s likely not their fault. They also operate a travel agency, which is convenient, but their prices are significantly higher—for instance, they offer a Nosy Iranja excursion for €80, whereas we did it for €45. The staff were not particularly friendly. We had a massage there; the therapists were two elderly ladies, which was unexpected. Additionally, the laundry service was the most expensive I’ve ever encountered. Overall, it’s a decent hotel, but don’t set your expectations too high.
