Not the 4 star experience you’d expect. Next time I’d choose a different hotel, or at least another Novotel. The friendly and funny guy in the restaurant made a big difference and brought some positive energy. But overall, I only saw young staff who seemed to dislike their job. Unfriendly during check-in at night, and again during check-out the next morning. The woman clearing breakfast also looked frustrated and annoyed with her day. If you present yourself as a 4 star tourist hotel, guest hospitality should be the starting point. I didn’t experience anything close to that. Attitude really does shape the stay. This is not a complaint about Novotel in general. I often stay at other locations that do feel like 4 stars. But this one didn’t.
Unfortunately we had to stay for 1 night as we were part of a tour group & to be honest, it was one of the worst stay we ever had, by the end of it we were happy & relieved we left. Firstly the place is miles away from Paris, the staff is very rude & racist, the reception was shouting on top of his voice on our coach driver while he was trying to get through the compound gate. There are two small lifts to go on the upper floor, when we asked the bellboy where is the second lift he said ‘sand on the side let the French guest pass & he will show us’ he took them to the far end of the corridor & started talking (that’s what we thought later to realise they were waiting for the second lift) he then came back & when we asked again he said ‘ I am not sure where the second lift is) The rooms are terrible with no air conditioning,, the thermostat didn’t work, no fan no ventilation. Worst breakfast I ever had, empty buffet, no refills, burnt pastry. Only choose it if you don’t have any other options
I stayed here as part of Group tour organised by a travel operator (Star Tours) A basic premise of any hotel is comfortable rooms (with temp adjustment) where room temperature is adjustable and some effort is put in to the breakfast. The reception team response for poor and uncomfortable rooms. “We have not switched the air conditioner on…” how inconsiderate for a 4 star hotel with outside temperature in the high 20’s and a humid night, we felt very let down. Furthermore towels left in the bath tub were hanged up again for us to re-use and a call to the reception for something as basic as replacement bath towels was not entertained. The breakfast (arranged separately) was sparse and awful and it will be a full essay if I go into it. There were flies over the breakfast table wherein food was served…. Do I say more? In summary a truly disappointing stay…. won’t stay again. I look forward to the management response.
