Novotel Shenzhen Watergate

A perfect hotel for business trips. Close to old town where you can find great food and restaurants. I loved the breakfast buffet. Room was big and cozy. Front desk staff can speak fluent English and are very helpful.

Convenient location. Room is spacious, minibar can be used free of charge. Everyone has a welcome drink upon arrival

The hotel is quite old, though the room was spacious. The bed was too soft and sunken, which made our backs sore. Breakfast was average. One young chef didn’t know how to properly cook a fried egg and had a very cold attitude. When I saw he was busy, I tried to prepare my own noodles — but he came over with an unfriendly look, as if I’d done something wrong. He didn’t say a word, even after finishing the bowl. On the last day, a more senior chef was much friendlier and welcoming. Although the hotel clearly states that smoking is prohibited — with fines for violations — we saw a Chinese guest smoking right inside the breakfast area, near staff. No one stopped him until we reminded the staff twice. When they finally asked him to stop, he reacted angrily before putting out the cigarette.
