My stay there was good, every staff member was nice and polite. Room wasn’t exceptional like I thought, looks modern but I feel it’s too flashy. Would recommend Number 1 Oxford street for anyone who visits Ghana. To have a good taste of their Ghanaian dishes and 5 star treatment from their staff.
This is a beautiful hotel, but far too expensive for what it offers. The service is truly five-star – everyone was exceptionally friendly and attentive. We felt genuinely welcome throughout our stay. The hotel presents itself as “luxury,” but compared to standard five-star properties, that only holds true on the surface. The rooms are stylish, but the building shows signs of age (e.g. leaky joints, stained cushions). We had to change rooms twice due to minor issues, though they were resolved promptly. Noise is another drawback – the lack of soundproofing means you hear everything from Oxford Street at night. Breakfast was fine but unremarkable. Overall, a charming hotel with outstanding service, but not worth the high (European-level) price.
This was a 1 star experience for a hotel that rates itself as a 5 star hotel. Where do I begin? I will be brief - and only given some highlights. Room stunk like mould. Shower leaked all over the floor and the whole bathroom was continually flooded. Not a good start. Went to the bar for a beer. No-one turns up for 15 mins. 5 star? I order a beer - finally comes. Time to leave. Bill please? Barman disappears and 15 mins later still hasn't returned. Really? So I walked out of the bar without paying. No one seemed to care or even notice. Later I go for a coffee at the restaurant. I sign for my coffee. Two hours later while I'm sleeping I'm told I cannot sign for anything because I haven't left a security deposit. Really? At a 5 star hotel. So I have to come downstairs to pay at the lobby. Next morning I arrive at breakfast. No buffet today but somehow there is also no menu. I order. Half my breakfast appears - wait, wait, wait for the toast. I ask for it again. Ten minutes later I leave. No toast. Next, I give feedback to the manager. Lovely lady - and makes me feel a lot better about the experience. Tells me they will make sure they will do better and will contact me within the week to apologise and offer me a deal to ensure I give them another chance. Two months later I've beginning to think they were not being honest with me. Something has happened to this hotel. It used to be good but now it is an awful experience. 5 star prices with 1 star service.
