Oaks Cable Beach Resort

Clean and spacious rooms. Breakfast is good, though it could use more variety from day to day. Just a 10-minute walk to cable beach, which is super convenient. The two large pools are a big plus, and there’s plenty of space to relax and tan. Overall, a great place to stay!

Staff were hit and miss. Some friendly and others could not care less. Breakfast on second day - they completely ran out of all food and we had a half hour wait . ( this seemed to be with the staff that didn’t care) . Breakfast on other few days was reasonable without a wait. Our dishwasher didn’t work ( they explained they could get a part for it) and one of the toilets wouldn’t flush unless we hand filled the cistern every time we used it by hand. We asked twice for it to be fixed with no luck. The pool area was lovely and the actual room ( if everything worked) was roomy and comfortable.

This is a resort which could be quite good but it’s a bit old and tired. Staff are OK and friendly enough but too many are ill informed about the resort. Breakfast, which was included, was so ordinary we ate elsewhere. Pool surrounds are good. Bar and restaurant leave a bit to be desired. Our room was OK but the bathroom was tired with soap scum, grime & mould. Sliding door needed new rollers. We stayed for a few days and had to request clean towels, more water and tea, all of which should have been automatic. Our room needed a clean but we were told it wasn’t possible as it was a public holiday! Seriously! This is a tourist Mecca and this was disappointing. It would only take a little effort and good management to have this as a great resort. It’s location close to Cable Beach and places like Spinifex means it should be a winner.
