Occidental Tucancun

We just spent 4 days here for an anniversary getaway and I can’t emphasize enough how great our trip was. The customer service was top notch. The room and the view was amazing. I highly recommend the buffet restaurant for all meals and the lunch buffet at the restaurant by the pools is great. All the pools are amazing along with the music and the bars. Very easy beach access. I highly recommend you try them

Over the hotel didn’t live up to any of the reviews we saw that were all 5 stars. Rooms and the entire hotel were outdated. Our room had a leak in the corner by the sliding doors to the balcony. Puddled in our room. Our 2nd room was hot all the time and our 3rd room smelled like a sewer. They changed that room for us. All things around the resort were in disrepair. Pools were all cloudy. We couldn’t see our feet it was so bad. One of the pool latter was broken with caution tape around it. Tiles were missing and over the maintenance on the pools lacking. Service was great. Everyone was super friendly and helpful. Servers were all so nice and accommodating. Always very friendly. Food was good all around. Buffet and sit down restaurants were all good food. Bars didn’t open each day till 11am and all except for the lobby bar closed by 7pm. It was weird for an all inclusive resort. Overall good location but the resort needs a lot of refurbishment. Views were pretty. The beach had zero shade structures. The palm trees were all new and didn’t provide any cover.

Only my first night here so I will update but so far. Check in took a long time. Group booking and we are all on different floors. (Not that big of a deal) Pool is smaller. Beach get deeps quick. Sat at the buffet for the first time and the moment our last plate got picked up the manager told us to go to the lobby to finish our conversation because he needed it. Might get better. Here for another 4 days but that alone was worthy of a negative review for me.
