We recently stayed at the Ocean Centre Hotel and our experience was wonderful! The staff had been very helpful and accommodating when we had to change rooms and add kids to the mix for an additional night. They responded to emails quickly and were always eager to help accommodate the changes we required. Our room move was very smooth, and the Level 4 Ocean Suite room was to die for with the amazing balcony, views and the room itself. Everything was clean and tidy and very comfortable. The complimentary drink vouchers were great, even though we ran out of time to use them up! Breakfast offerings were tasty and staff very friendly. Overall, our experience was amazing and we definitely want to come back again. I feel like that room needs to be my second home now. There were a few disappointing items: Bar closing at 9pm was a little disappointing. I am not a great drinker but after we had finished with our afternoon/evening activities (kids were performing in a band tour) we came back to the hotel and the plan was to sit at the Sirocco Bar, play board games and have a few drinks which would have felt more social but the bar closed at 9pm. So, we ended up having to walk to shops to buy our own drinks and spend time in the room instead (which I guess is not a bad thing when the room was that amazing). No dinner being prepared on site was also disappointing. I would expect a 4-star hotel to provide table service rather than scanning a QR code and receiving take-away containers. The hotel does provide plates and cutlery, but your food actually comes in a takeaway container, and it is just not the same. In-house kitchen and table service would have provided a more decadent experience, matching the experience provided by the room itself. Same with room service. The same restaurant provides room service and everything arrives in takeaway containers. I have stayed in motels that provide plated food. I would have expected that at least here. Staying in that brilliant room and eating out of cardboard containers felt a little jarring. Both the bar, dining and room service should have stayed open until 11pm. Hotel provides parking for guests which is great and you get a private code to access the parking area. What was scary was how tight the parking was!! I can understand due to the location that the space is at a premium but maybe next time I will drive my little car instead of the big one. Overall, our experience was amazing and we will come back again. We may just plan better next time in terms of food and drink options.
Ocean Centre Hotel – Geraldton ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ We recently stayed at the Ocean Centre Hotel in Geraldton and couldn’t be happier with our experience. From the moment we arrived, the staff were extremely friendly, helpful, and courteous – they really made us feel welcome. The rooms were exactly as described in the photos online – clean, spacious, and with beautiful views of the ocean. Everything was quiet and comfortable, with excellent in-room facilities. The showers were fantastic, and everything was well-maintained. The hotel’s dining area for breakfast and dinner was a real highlight – offering lovely meals with stunning ocean views, right on the foreshore. The location is perfect – close to everything, with the beach just across the road. It’s a peaceful and relaxing place to unwind. My wife and I absolutely loved our stay. We’ll definitely be back – it will be our first choice whenever we return to Geraldton. Highly recommended! Brian and P'Tree
We were aware we wouldn’t have a sea view from our room however we were taken aback when we were directed to our room in the basement which we referred to as The Dungeon! As soon as we descended the stairs there was a distinct musty smell which made sense when we realised our bathroom (apparently all the bathrooms) don’t have an exhaust fan, my husband (a builder) identified rising damp in the rendered wall & architrave adjacent to our bed! We asked if we could move to another room & were prepared to pay the difference but were told they were fully booked! Our room although spacious, had a single pane of glass window that was bolted shut & the glass covered with an opaque coating & a shutter so you couldn’t see outside at all. The room was initially cold & when we turned on the split system it became too warm & stuffy despite lots of adjustments there was no comfortable level. Due to no exhaust fan in bathroom there was condensation everywhere after showering. There was an extremely loud snorer upstairs on the next level & between that and a very loud clunking sound that went very late (after 11.30pm) & started again around 6am there was little sleep to be had despite my usually trusty earplugs. In the morning the hotel manager down played our experience by saying the loud clunking was probably some air venting system which she had turned on at 6am & offered a free coffee or free breakfast to compensate which we politely declined as nothing could make up for the underwhelming stay! If you have smelly rooms in a basement $250 is a ridiculous rate, those rooms should be the BUDGET basement price & it should be made clear that’s what’s available when the booking is confirmed…disgraceful! Hope this helps to make others aware.
