Ocean Star Hotel

Absolutely stunning location with beautifully designed rooms. The staff went above and beyond warm, welcoming, and incredibly helpful throughout my stay. They gave me the perfect first impression of Palau, and I’d definitely come back. Plus they can organise any activity you want which was great. Highly recommend it to anyone visiting to start or end your trip with Ocean Star Hotel!!!

My stay at this hotel was a mixed experience. The room itself was standard but clean, brightly lit (when the electricity wasn’t cutting out—but that’s an island-wide issue), and offered a great view. However, the TV was more of a decorative piece unless you’re in the mood for Mainland China (P.R.C.) propaganda. All five channels were from CCTV—four in Chinese and one in English, but still the same content. No option to connect to Netflix or YouTube either, which was disappointing. At the very least, I would have liked access to some international news. Breakfast was another letdown. It felt more like a selection of Chinese lunch and dinner options rather than a proper breakfast spread. There was no egg or omelet station, likely because eggs cost a staggering $15 per dozen on this island. In the end, I had to make my own breakfast after a trip to the grocery store. On the positive side, the staff were friendly and helpful, and surprisingly, the free toothbrush was the best-quality hotel toothbrush I’ve ever used. Small details like that do make a difference! Overall, while the hotel has some strengths, it falls short in areas that matter—especially for international travelers expecting more diverse entertainment and breakfast options.

DON'T GIVE IT A CHANCE. Thd front desk staff is Helpless! The Chinese lady in the office did not resolve any problem. They changed the room lock (a working one) during your stay when you are out without advice notice. Bad breakfast serving. It is low season here and no other customers checming in, they asked for 1/2 room charge for late checkout at 14:00 that our flight is 18xx tonight. We paid extra for the seaview room and tje hotel stacked the debris rigjt in front of your window that flies flying in your room.
