Oikos in Terre di Zaccanello

We visited with our friends recently as part of a larger food tour in the region, organized by GoSicily, and we had an amazing time! Giulia was an exceptional host and storyteller, sharing the unique history of their family farm with us and explaining the very local cultivation of olives. She exercised great patience as she taught us novices how to properly taste and enjoy the nuances of their award-winning olive oils (we don't have anything that good in Germany), and we were so happy to learn in such a beautiful setting and to have a great meal with friends afterwards. I only wish we had more time to stay in that idyllic place for longer. We will definitely be back. :)

If you’re looking for a serene and charming retreat in the countryside, this is the perfect spot! With only six rooms, it feels wonderfully intimate and never crowded. The family-owned atmosphere makes you feel like part of their inner circle, with warm and genuine hospitality. The service is excellent, the food is sourced directly from the estate, and you can even participate in the harvest yourself. We absolutely loved our stay and highly recommend it to everyone!

I happened to find this place by accident. I was flying to Catania and ended up chatting to my next seat passenger who happened to be Giulia. My friend and I decided to do the Olive oil tasting, which was a wonderful experience. Giulia was a good host, showed us around the farm, the history of the farm and the process of making olive oil and then the testing. The attention to detail in packing the olive oil bottles since we were flying internationally was absolutely great. I wish I found this place earlier and planned for it. I will definitely stop by the next time I'm in the area.
