The check-in process was thorough and calming. The water in the baths is known for easing hypertension and digestion issues. I felt comfortable after one session and slept peacefully. A great hotel experience for someone learning about Japan. The dinners were amazing. I recommend the wagyu mini steaks. Breakfast was calm and bright with citrusy juices and amazing herbal tea made from lemongrass.
The staff and service were exceptional from start to finish. Our room, with a breathtaking view of the mountains, was calming, healing, and offered complete privacy. The public facilities were spotless and very well maintained. My only regret? Not booking an extra night! Since my husband and I don’t speak Japanese, we were touched by how kindly the staff took the time to explain the menu to us—something most onsens wouldn’t normally do. It was such a thoughtful gesture that really made us feel welcome and cared for. Okuhita Onsen Umehibiki went above and beyond in every way. If you’re reading this—do yourself a favor and book it now!
Good service, delicious dinner & breakfast. Choosing a private villa with spectacular view & private onsan! Most impressive is the bar area, which can have a drink after dinner & listen to selected vinyl records😍of course with a glass of Japanese whiskey!
