Okuno Hosomichi

One of the best kaiseki dinners I’ve had in japan amongst all the ryokans I’ve been to. Lobster was the freshest I’ve eaten. Rooms are pretty standard for the price.

From before my arrival the service was light and airy and attentive. Chose the inn because the public onsen does have a sauna. Enjoyed my time very much and can recommend. The colleagues are responsive to requests and the Hotel shuttle is available for short trips in Arima Onsen, do recommend advance reservation (for example to and from the station.) My only disappointment was the parking lot view from my suite. For a complete mountain retreat feel, next time will try Arimasansoh Goshobessho and the Hotel Harvest Arima Rokuisai (walked by this property today and it is far more elegant than it appears on Google.)

Our family stayed Saturday night at the onsen suite. It is nice and big, and we enjoyed the hot springs. However the hotel staff are very disappointingly dishonest — the staff basically stole my ring that was left on one of the tables when we checked out. I realized that I didn’t have my ring while we were still in the area (We decided to take the ropeway up the mountains to have lunch). We called the hotel right away and asked them to look for it, and we drove back to the hotel, but the ring was gone. I’m very disappointed by how dishonest these people are. Onsen hotels are supposed to carry healing energy, but this hotel clearly doesn’t have a field of good energy if its people are bad. So I would not recommend it. The food was so so.
