Such a shame, beautiful building, and their website looks great, but in reality, it's not the same. The room was dirty, things broken, lights and light switches didn't work. We did sleep well, the bed was fine and the bathroom looked nice, it also had a working fridge but no shelves in it. Mirrors were all smeared with hand prints on it, and the heavy shower tap fell off while in use. Luckily, it didn't cause any damage to the floor or foot but could have caused injury, very unsafe. The rooms have obviously been modernised but they're not kept well. There was also no soaps at all in the bathroom or clean towels, the receptionist was very helpful and gave us what we needed but we wouldn't expect to have to ask for these things. The latch on the window was broken and didn't close properly. The bar and restaurant were non-existent, and we didn't dare go to the gym. Definitely not worth over the £100 we paid and we wouldn't return. Unfortunate as we wanted a little treat while in the area but didn't turn out that way.
Awful. Staff were amazing but everything else was shocking. A beautiful building but... it smells horrendous, the dining room is full of fridges with guests 'shopping', signage and lighting is poor, there are children running around outside after midnight - there are so many issues including poor building maintenance, inadequate cleaning standards, no bar or food it's a real shame it has masses of potential, there is little else in the area for work stays
This hotel is not a 4 star hotel. I can see how it used to be but have been housing people there for quite sometime leaving it tired and unusable. The Odour when you walk into the accommodation was over powering and incredibly noisy. I was on the top floor that was extremely hot and made it smell worse. The only good thing about it was the man behind the desk who couldn’t be more accommodating. This hotel needs to choose who it caters for. Customers or full time residents, the government will be paying them a good wage so don’t be greedy and charge citizens money to stay there when it’s unsafe.
