The Old Parsonage Hotel is an absolute gem. I had an incredible stay here in late June. The hotel itself is well-appointed. Guests are given plenty of water in room throughout their stay, fresh milk each day, and homemade cookies and tea as part of turndown service. The reception team was incredibly warm - special thanks to Alyssa who was welcoming and kind. Close to Oxford. Private library you can sit in. Beautiful art collection throughout. Fun books in each room. A gorgeous outdoor terrace.
Had a wonderful time at your inn. The grounds and the inn are beautiful, and your employees all work so very hard and want to please their guests. Your bartender, Sophie, is a wonderful employee as is Connor, your very professional waiter!!! My husband and I were very impressed with them both!
The stay started out great—beautiful property, polite staff. But as the days went on, cracks began to show. I ordered room service one afternoon and rested my eyes, figuring they’d knock or call when it arrived. They did neither. When I woke and called, they told me they had tried both and, since I “didn’t answer,” they tossed the food. My heart sank. With homeless people on the streets and food insecurity everywhere, they threw away a perfectly good meal that was only minutes old. I was disgusted. They offered to let me reorder, but I’d lost my appetite. Fast forward to my last day. I’m exhausted—just proposed to my husband and sent him off before heading to war. I sat on the patio, quietly drinking some liquor I had purchased to celebrate with him, only to be approached by a rude waiter saying, “Sir, you can’t drink that here,” and waving dismissively at my books and cards like they were a nuisance. Then, as I’m checking out, the front desk hits me with a $750 charge for allegedly smoking in the room and “candle wax on the floor,” claiming they needed a machine to fix it. $750. I thought, “For that? I could do it myself in 5 minutes.” Their attitude was cold and unprofessional. By the time I left, any trace of the luxury experience was gone. Disappointed, disheartened, and glad to leave.
