Overrated as a 4★ — you’ll need a car, and some policies feel cheap Hotel Olympia Events & Spa is well located if you have a car — it’s outside central Valencia, but just a few steps from the metro, so it’s easy to get into the city. There’s also a supermarket nearby, which is convenient. You can usually find free street parking right in front, or pay €10/day to park in the hotel’s private garage. The rooms are spacious and clean, and the staff is friendly. Breakfast is decent, and the metro makes access to downtown simple. However, there were some disappointing moments. One major issue: I asked for cutlery at the hotel cafeteria to eat something in my room, and I was told I had to buy disposable wooden utensils for €1 — which were practically useless. The knife couldn’t cut anything, and the fork barely worked. When I asked if proper metal cutlery would be provided if I ordered from room service, they said yes — but otherwise, only those wooden ones were available, and only for purchase. That felt incredibly cheap and out of place for a supposed 4-star hotel. The spa facilities are shared with the local community and only available during certain time slots. Also, you definitely need a car to move around easily from this location, especially at night. Overall, this hotel is okay for short stays if you have your own transport. But the experience and service don’t really live up to the 4-star rating.
The location is amazing, very quiet area and a 4 minute walk to the metro which gets you to the city centre in under 10 minutes. Breakfast was your typical Spanish hotel breakfast (bacon, eggs, meats & cheese cereal, fruit, coffe e.c.t) and it was always a satisfying start to the day. The staff were very consistently lovely and answered any question they could. The area is populated by mainly Spanish speaking people so if you don’t have at least a basic understanding you may struggle.
Overall, the hotel was welcoming, the mattress a bit firm, and most of the staff were friendly and helpful. However, I was very disappointed with the attitude of the bald man at the night desk. After I was physically assaulted during my stay and escorted back by the police, he refused to provide any assistance. I believe this is unacceptable and hope the management addresses this matter seriously.
