Opera Plaza Hotel Marrakech

Overall nice hotel, but bit far from city 8.6. Hotel room was of adequate size and beds was also good size.  Bed was a bit harder then used to, pillows on the larger size and of varying fluffiness. Floor was carpet, but appeared in good shape. Room had a balcony that overlooked the Royal Theater and was really nice.  Door was double panned, I'm guessing to keep heat out. AC could only be set to cool after May 1st, which was unfortunate as it wasn't very warm. Bathroom shower was hot with good pressure, but didn't love half walled set-up. It could also use some updating. Breakfast was included and had a fairly good selection. Part of it was on the patio, which was where they cooked food and it was a bit chilly waiting for food.  Pool looked very nice,  but it was too cold to swim. Staff was very polite and helpful. Fairly close to airport, cost about 150 DH.

Grand plaza hotel customer service was poor. The reception folks did not speak/understand English. The air conditioning was not functioning well. Upon several attempts by their maintenance person they could not fix it. It showed a temperature of 31 C in the room and that would not go down all the while the maintenance person claimed the air conditioner was good and fixed and working. The location is great, right next to the main train station with a lot of restaurants around.

- A bit expensive pool-bar - Not access to free, clean drinking water. A big minus for a "nice/luxurious" hotel. - Bring noise-cancelling headsets, the same 50 or so songs on the playlist was on repeat for 12 days straight. After 3 days noise-cancelling saved the rest of the holiday. - Friendly staff - Clean rooms - The lowest temp we got in our room was 26 celsius, even though the aircon was set to 20. A bit high sleeping-temp, but got used to it after some nights.
