Staff is friendly but thats all I can pretty much compliment about this place. The carpet is super dirty, sheets feel dirty, the pictures are misleading, well at least for me, my room had a view of a construction site and one morning i woke up the the workers looking into my room window. The hotel is very far from any subway line and you will have to walk a mile just to catch a subway, food in the area is delicious though. Overall I wouldn’t stay here again, unless it was my only option. There is plenty of other options for better prices.
Check in was easy, our room was nice and clean and the view was worth paying up for. We had a junior suite but I had to keep reminding myself that a four-figure hotel in the Midwest is not the same in New York.. I was confused on why this hotel is listed as a 4-star hotel although it felt very modest. There was no restaurant or lounge area, and having to go from the 19th floor to the lobby to use the only microwave available was weird. Our trip kept us out of the hotel most of our stay, so sleeping and showering was it for us. So when the chain broke on curtain after the first night we expected an easy fix, but we were blinded by the sunlight 6am every morning (we got in after 2am every night). Our repeated request to have it fixed was met with false promises.. to the point that someone even came to the room to apologize for the lack of attention, only to not follow through on having someone there first thing the next morning. Oh! and the first morning there I called the front desk to ask if there was a building alarm going off but I figured out that when the room next to us turned on the shower, we lost our hot water matched with a blaring noise. Thankfully that only happened twice. Despite these couple of issues, I would stay here again. The location was great for public transportation, the staff was pleasant, and it felt safe and comfortable. Quick note: We also had to buy our own face and hand towels- they only provide large towels. No ice bucket or glasses were provided either.
I would stay here if I was alone and my only objective was to save money, but I’m currently staying here with my family of 4 and I feel like a bad parent for not vetting this place more thoroughly. I have to imagine most of the 5 star reviews are paid for to offset the many poor reviews. And if you read them, you may have your suspicions as well. The carpets are old and feel like they haven’t been vacuumed in a long time and frankly look like they needed replacing years ago. The room has a musty smell and I woke up with a stuffy nose. It feels like cleaning is one of the many line items the hotel decided to save money on. The light switch in the bathroom is broken. There doesn’t appear to be a thermostat for heat control in the room. They don’t have drinking glasses and I had to go to the front desk for paper cups. Everything about the experience feels second rate. I will say the staff is nice. I imagine they must feel bad for the guests checking in knowing the expectations created by marketing vs the reality of the experience. I’m seriously considering finding another location for the 2nd night of our stay tomorrow. This is incredibly disappointing.
