We stayed in the Deluxe room, which is their largest non-suite room. It was reasonable size. The beds were comfortable by Scandinavian standards. The room was very quiet. I was surprised how weak the water pressure was in the shower, but this seems to be a common problem (likely due to some regulations) in Norway as all 3 hotels we stayed in suffered from it. The breakfast buffet was outstanding.
This hotel is beautiful… but completely fails on the basics. There is no air conditioning, and the room was over 26°C — it was impossible to sleep. We tried to open the windows, but it was extremely noisy outside, and there are no mosquito screens, so that wasn’t an option either. A hotel at this level should at least offer the bare minimum for comfort, especially during summer. If you’re hoping for a good night’s sleep, avoid this place. Very disappointing for what could have been a great stay.
Stayed for one night before a Viking cruise and regretted it. If you don’t want to sleep, book here. If you want a poor attitude from the front desk, book here. At check-in, we were told that our room was being upgraded. What we were not told was there is a ton of street noise for most of the night. How does hotel management and the City of Bergen allow this? Really disappointing for a supposed 4-star hotel.
