We stayed at Smy Orizontes for five nights, our stay was overall good. We had some inconveniences regarding the bathroom of the room as there was no door and this created privacy problems; furthermore there was not even glass that closed the shower cabin and this caused frequent flooding. The breakfast was good, varied and plentiful. The location of the property is strategic as it allows you to easily reach the most beautiful parts of the island. The staff was friendly and helpful, especially Irini with her kind welcome.
I stayed for 7 days with my boyfriend and our 4 young teens. The pool-area was perfect, clean and the poolbar-service was perfect! !but the manager and staff was not service minded, very disappointing. - day one we mentioned the air conditioning was not working, they never fixed it even though we mentioned it several days. - bad smell from toilet couple of times - we needed to ask for clean mineral water every day even it was promised to be served every day. Important because they signed at the bathroom we could not drink from the local water. - sheets was not changed every day, important because aircon did not work, so it was disgusting. - we not allowed to bring snacks and water to pool - staff had strong issues providing us new pool towels every day and were surprised of the number of towels we needed (6people) - the jacuzzi in pool area did not work. Overall the staff and service was so rudely and not very accommodating. we did not feel welcome.
Disappointing Experience – Room Not as Advertised, Poor Service Response We chose to wait a week before writing this review to ensure our feedback was fact-based and not driven by emotion. Unfortunately, our stay at this hotel was deeply disappointing and fell well below expectations. We had booked a superior room through Expedia, which included photos showing a clean room with a sea view and two double beds pressed together. However, the reality was vastly different. The room we were given bore little resemblance to the advertised images. The bathroom had a persistent sewage odor, the bathtub jets and controls were corroded, and the compartment housing the refrigerator showed signs of significant water damage and mold—contributing to an overall musty smell in the room. The “sea view” turned out to be obstructed by trees and an LG air conditioning condenser unit. Additionally, the TV did not function and displayed a “no signal” message. The hotel's solution was simply to remove the TV altogether, with no replacement or fix during our stay. Hoping to find a resolution, we approached the management team the next morning to discuss whether we were in fact placed in the correct room type. Despite a calm and respectful approach from my wife, the responses were defensive. Responses were inconsistent—first citing that they also accommodate families (which was irrelevant), then claiming they don't handle bookings, and finally insisting that the room was a superior room. When pressed for clarification or assistance, they offered no further support. Pictures attached illustrate the condition of the refrigerator compartment (the fridge was painted), tub hardware, beds, non-functional TV & sea View) Even after all of this, we offered to pay for an upgraded room. We were told a response would be given the next morning, but we never heard back. We completed our stay quietly and left. To be clear, we cannot speak for all rooms at this property, but based on our experience, the quality appears to vary significantly. We strongly encourage prospective guests to carefully consider this when booking—it may be a gamble. On a positive note, the receptionist was truly exceptional. She was courteous, professional, and helpful throughout our stay, assisting us with transfers and general information. This was our second trip to Santorini, next time we will be staying somewhere different. In closing, I made it a point to make this fact-based and not emotional. I look forward to the 'management teams' response. there was a camera in the lobby - if submitting doesn't go against privacy policies, I encourage them to share - or an apology would do at this point.
