With mixed feelings the hotel not fully met my 5-star expectations though the potential is definitely there. It is a lovely designed place, nice people, good vibe and excellent food. Main issues: -> some superior rooms desperatley need a renovation as this one has mould on the wall in the bathroom -> restaurant garden starts literally 1.5 meter from my doors generating late hours noise that can well prevent from sleeping -> speaking many languages fluently I still had some issues to align with animation team oriented foremost towards french speaking guests and not always inclusive -> some hours (17-19:30) there is literally no food available despite all in option and due to location in the middle of no where going outside is also not super easy so when you actually happen to return from excursion around that time you would need to wait even for a snack -> I'm not sure if number of umbrellas and beach loungers is fully sufficient in peak season outside of adults only areas and private pools.
Update after the hotel’s reply: We had two rooms – 411 and 711. Neither of them was extended, and no alternative was offered, even though we were willing to pay for the extension. At reception we were told directly: “no rooms available, everything is occupied.” The hotel’s statement that room 411 was offered does not reflect the facts. We also sent an email to the hotel manager but never received any reply. Such contradictory and unresponsive communication only reinforces our disappointment with the service. Update after hotel’s reply: The hotel’s reply is inaccurate. We never met with any “tour representative” and never stated that “we had no issues.” This is entirely fabricated. The main problem was the refusal to extend even one of our two rooms, despite being promised two days prior and our willingness to pay. After a stay costing over €10,000, our family had to change clothes in a public toilet. Such treatment is unacceptable, and I am lowering my rating from 3★ to 1★. Main review: The main disappointment of our stay at Ostria Resort & Spa was the refusal to extend even one single room out of all the rooms in the hotel for 5 hours on the departure day, despite our willingness to pay for the service. Two days before leaving, we were told “no problem”, but the next day we were informed that there were no available rooms. As a result, after paying over €10,000 for two rooms, our entire family had to change clothes in a restroom. We even wrote to the hotel’s general manager — no reply. Other shortcomings only added to the negative impression. Two Polish staff members (brothers) were rude and unprofessional. Entertainment was almost non-existent: in 11 nights, the only truly interesting event was an acrobat show. The rest of the animators did almost nothing. One incident involved the tennis animator in the main restaurant taking all the food prepared by the chef, leaving an elderly French lady, who was next in line, with nothing. We had 3 towels stolen at the pool while we were away for just 20 minutes. Reception offered no real help, and later we learned this happens often and guests are charged. During our stay, we witnessed 4 more such cases. From August 1 to 11, there was a hurricane-force wind almost every day — up to 8 on the Beaufort scale (62–74 km/h) — felt throughout the entire resort. On the beach, sunbeds were sometimes blown over, and being outdoors was extremely uncomfortable. On the positive side: Marina, the bartender from Ossetia in the main bar, was outstanding — attentive, polite, and very professional. Great team at the adults-only bar and pool bar, friendly Greek staff in the main restaurant, and an excellent Guest Relations lady who speaks fluent German. The food was tasty and of good quality. In most 3–5* hotels, extending at least one room is standard, especially for families with children. Here, there was no flexibility and guest requests were ignored.
