We love staying at the Outrigger Kona Resort and Spa! The staff is always friendly, and the service is superb. The location is absolutely stunning—the views from the hotel are glorious, and even a simple walk around the grounds feels like an adventure. While we enjoy exploring the Big Island, we also appreciate just relaxing at the resort. The pool area offers something for everyone, including a fun water slide, a shallow beach-like entry, natural surroundings with incredible views, poolside food and beverage service, and cabanas for lounging. In the evenings, the live music adds a wonderful vibe to the atmosphere. The on-site restaurant serves delicious food with excellent service. We’ll definitely be back!

We had a wonderful stay at the Outrigger Kona for our first trip to Hawaii. The staff was friendly and professional everywhere we went. The grounds are extremely beautiful, serene, and spacious enough that it never felt crowded. Beautiful gardens and walking paths to explore, the sound of waves crashing can be heard all around the resort, and both pool areas were relaxing with plentiful seating. The room was very clean and comfortable with a great balcony and view. Can't wait to come back!

Our stay at Outrigger Kona Resort and Spa was a nightmare. First room: musty, hot (set to 79°), smelled awful. They only moved us after we insisted, even though better rooms were available. On our last night, the entire property lost power — pools, restaurants, and bars shut down, hallways pitch black, and zero safety lighting. The manager lied, claiming it was a county-wide outage (it wasn’t — the rest of the area was lit up). They set up fans and power for the staff, but left guests sweating and in danger. We had to pack in the dark while teens banged on doors. With no safe conditions, we scrambled to book another hotel at $500 extra. Outrigger only refunded the single night we didn’t stay. That’s insulting given the risk, stress, and expense they caused. If you value honesty, safety, and basic hospitality, stay anywhere else — there are better, safer options nearby that actually care about guests.
