I stayed at the 4 Sisters (at North Kyme) on 17 May 25. I have given it a well deserved 5 Stars . . not because it is a 5 Star facility, but because it is 5 Stars for Value for Money. I stayed in a compact room with a Double bed, a small (but adequate) flat screen TV. There was an ensuite shower and toilet. The shower itself was a very good, powerful electric shower and everywhere was very clean. I basically needed a bed for the night and a breakfast in the morning and this met my requirements totally. The staff were courteous and helpful. I would recommend the 4 Sisters and I will use it again when I am next in the area.
We’ve just got home after a very very long journey, but felt I needed to review. On arrival at the ‘4 sisters’ I was really unsure where to park, although it was advertised that there was parking available on site. After going back and forwards a bit, we found where to go and went to check in. The guy at the reception (who was really nice and friendly) told us which room we were in (my 10 year old daughter and I) and we followed him to a bungalow opposite the building. I thought WOW! £50 for an entire bungalow! I was wrong! They had, probably cleverly in 1972, converted ALL the rooms into their own hotel rooms with a teeny en-suite. We squeezed into our room and as he left, I went to put the kettle on…. Although it was full of stale water with ‘bits’ floating in it. I went to empty it in the bathroom and noticed the bathroom was really grubby. Not particularly dirty, but just dusty and sad and a bit neglected. The whole room smelt stale, like it all needed an airing. I think I managed about 30 minutes sleep. The beds were like ironing boards, clean bedding (but no mattress protectors) but so uncomfortable, I had a really bad back in the morning.. not ideal for a 150 mile drive home! During the night, a man came into the bungalow and made a VERY loud phone call and because of the extremely thin walls, it literally sounded like he was outside the door. I felt really unsafe and scared for my daughter and so just stayed awake. It is such a shame that everything has been left to get so tired and uncared for because they are getting some things really right - like the breakfast, which was good and the lovely guy on reception - but failing at the upkeep and the little things like the kettles being ready for your next guest, no mattress protectors and even having the duvets in upside down on the beds!
There was a damp smell on entry to the room Curtains that don't fit the window properly nor do they block out light. The bathroom was tiny very rough unpainted plaster on the walls Mold in the bathroom. The kettle was disgusting. BED was really uncomfortable, thin mattress with very weak springs I was touching the base of the bed that the mattress was on upon sitting down on it, and woke up on the morning with terrible back pain. There was a ceiling fan but I wouldn't advise using it, the motor was very unbalanced and rocked in the ceiling at some point this might come down. WiFi is painfully slow, I could send a couple of emails but that's about it, if you want to stream a firestick forget about that. This was described as a 4 star hotel, by who? The owner maybe or someone that knows nothing about hotels, it's not even a purpose built hotel, it is a bungalow with the rooms converted much like student accommodation except you have no kitchen. It is owned by the people who own the Tandoori restaurant across the road which is where you have to check in. I definitely will not be staying here again.
