The hotel was very pleasant to stay in, the receptionists were all so lovely and helpful, they went above and beyond! The rooms are recently renovated so very nice as well. There is still scaffolding on the outside and the carpets haven’t been changed yet but that didn’t bother me at all. I highly recommend!
Nice rooms 2 double beds with plenty of space, bathroom over bath shower also nice, full cooked breakfast if you choose or a continental, plenty of choice. Receptionist was very friendly and helpful, only downside some type of generator kicked in in the morning quiet loud, but thankfully I always bring ear plugs, my friend and I will definitely stay again, will be lovely once the refurb is finished.
Check-in was efficient, if your a solo traveller you might have to negotiate stairs that are not covered by the lift. Single rooms are very basic no window!! almost oh if we must accommodate solo travellers let's put them in between floors. Cooked breakfast was nice, however the service in the breakfast room was a erm different story.. didn't even get to sit down before I was asked what cooked food I wanted. Warm yogurts are a aquired taste, everything is in sachets, salt, pepper in 1970s silver bowls, plastic glasses for juice, stained table cloths. Cleaning after guests is let's brush the crumbs on to the dated chairs (that remind me of a northern working man's club) . A guest arrived "late" for breakfast with a gluten free diet to be told too late but you can have cereal "is it gluten free?" No but you can have toast!! So they were allowed orange juice! I understand they are going through a renovation of the hotel but no need for plastic glasses, sachets for everything. I have stayed in budget hotels and had better experiences. Staff don't appear to have a dress code, unless it's sitting on reception with "retro" leather jacket, or serving breakfast on a Sunday morning with holes in leggings. Clearly the older staff member was going to let the young girl with holes in her leggings on low rate of pay do all the work Car park is a experience I'll let you make your own mind up, just get in and out ASAP on a evening is my only advice!
