Pacific Star Resort and Spa

Staff are friendly and accommodating. Rooms are a little dated, but still clean. Best part of the rooms are the beds and the view of the ocean. My favorite perk of the hotel is the spa on the pool level. Also, beach area is the perfect place to relax and unwind; pool bar has great drinks and light snacks. Only con is the parking garage and the awkward maze to get to the elevator that leads to the rooms.

The building in general is very dated my fav comment on it was "...yeah. I bet this place was swinging in the 60s!"😅 that pretty much sums it up. The fitness center is very much decrepit but you can do the basics just fine. The rooms aren't "horrible" but again very dated with old school tube TVs, our power button was recessed inside the actual panel making it basically a retro paperweight. The Continental breakfast is pretty sparse but decent. The pool is nice. The staff are fairly friendly and service was well provided. Parking is bad at all mind you its January when I'm typing this. Chandra Spa is actually really good and staff there are sweet and considerate. If your on a budget it's your call on whether to stay here.

Booked this hotel based on the pictures from another travel website. Wow what a litany of poor customer service and just all around incompetence. Arrived on island in the evening, placed me in a room with a leaking spigot that you could clearly hear from the bedroom suite. Called the front desk, they sent an “engineer” to look at it, and came back an hour later with a drill and tools to attempt to fix it which would take AT LEAST an hour. Instead of putting me in another room, that was their solution after spending over 20 hours traveling. Got another room after lodging a complaint at the front desk. This room wasn’t any better but at this point, I just wanted to sleep. Fast forward to two days in, noticed the toilet was continuously running, and then the flusher broke. Same day, decided to order food service and at an hour, had not received it. Called the front desk, because none of the other buttons worked on my room phone, to find out what was going on and apparently their system went down but would only be another 15 minutes. 30 minutes later (1-1/2 hours after placing my order) called the front desk again, and they STILL DID NOT KNOW and would have to call. While the people who work here are super nice, they are horrible at following up and making sure issues were resolved satisfactorily. Never got a follow up phone call from the front desk regarding my room service order. When the food finally did arrive, it was cold. Awesome. Don’t let the name fool you. The condition of this hotel is far from that of a resort. Anytime it rains, the windows leak so badly they have to position fans to dry out the carpet so the rooms and the hallways smell like mildew. The carpet is torn and stained, wallpaper peeling, toilets and bath are in bad shape. I didn’t not wear shoes walking around the room because it was just gross because it was damp. The “fitness center” equipment is torn, worn, and most don’t work. There aren’t any sanitizing spray bottles so you can’t wipe down the equipment after use. I get that it’s humid and all that, but this hotel needs a serious update. Should reinvest money to fix the money pit issues like leaky faucets and toilets. Definitely would not recommend staying here. Don’t let the pictures fool you. The only POSITIVE thing I can think of about the hotel is the parking garage.
