The Palace of the Golden Horses in Kuala Lumpur, once renowned for its majestic design and luxurious services, has indeed closed. After years of being a landmark in Malaysia's hospitality scene, the hotel ceased operations in 2023. This closure marked the end of an era for a property known for hosting dignitaries, celebrities, and lavish events. Factors contributing to the closure included shifts in the tourism market, changes in ownership, and the evolving demands within Malaysia's hospitality industry. The building and grounds still retain their iconic grandeur, and while the hotel is no longer operational, its architectural legacy and the memories of its golden years continue to hold a special place in the hearts of those who visited or stayed there.

Used to be a great hotel.. After covid seems like it went thru major problems....now the remaining event hall is being used often to get the funding to revive the hotel maybe.... Event Hall is very nice clean and convenient...washroom is good... Parking space is a lot... Nice scenery....

I used to stay here a lot on the early 2000's, but I had the honor to go there again for business 20 years later. First of all I can not believe that this place has not changed at all in the 20 years since I last visited. It reminded me of meeting a really beautiful women, but when she smiles, she reveals black rotten teeth, yeah, that kind of sums it up. First all of smell when you walk from the lifts to the room, mouldy, stale, and not very pleasant. In the room itself, dusty, not very clean and not what you expect from a 5 star hotel. The room was great, but you are paying 5 star money, and it just looked dated, and the finishing to the room looked like it had been done in a hurry. For example, the panel where you put your room key in for the electricity, there was paint on the panel where someone obviously was in a hurry to finish off the room. The attention to detail was lacking. I went down to the pool and it has not changed since 20 years ago, and I could see instantly that it was the same furniture for two decades ago that had been renovated (badly) rather than buy new chairs. It was a lovely hotel 20 years ago, I can see that they have made renovations (for example they have replaced the carpets in the rooms with wood flooring), but the bathroom utilities are still the same and look very tired. I love KL, I really do, I love the memories of this hotel from where I pretty much lived here for 6 months, but with those good memories I have moved on, perhaps this hotel needs to move on aswell. It needs either a serious renovation or to be knocked down and start again. It will not survive with just patching small thing up gradually over time. It has the potential to relive its glory days, it just needs investment and a serious plan on what it wants to be.
