Beautiful Hotel with cool features like the croquet club and poolside overlooking the sea. Breakfast was amazing, reception staff also really helpful and professional. Most of the waiters were also great. Special experience in beautiful seaside town with everything in walking distance (beach, restaurants, bars, transport, port etc)
I mean. It is fine. Better than fine at points - the grounds are lovely and the welcome we received at check in was if anything a bit over the top and got a bit flustered since we had two rooms. The valet was intermittently available and absolutely everything was charged - they added breakfast charges to the bill despite telling us it was included with the room. If it weren't, they should have said before telling us where to be and when etc. The front desk was quite helpful and responsive and the maids cleaned the room even later in the day. Welcome, but baseline expectation for something that bills as 5*. The pool is closed until June 1. There is water in it but somehow is untreated. The rooms are billed as in a castle and they are sort of but most of them are located in wings or auxiliary buildings they are constructing. There is a charge for using the hot tub which is profoundly disappointing given the price for the room and that it is advertised. Granted, this was only 30EUR per person but still! The place felt like it knew it had a good spot and views and was going to extract as much money as possible. It is okay for a day.
We didn't stay in the hotel but came here for dinner in the bar. Although the location is stunning, it was the only positive thing we could say about our experience. The service was shockingly bad for the price and quality standards the hotel pretends. Servers never came to check on us, we didn't get our food at the same time, we got our wine at the last bite of our meal, our empty plates stayed on the table until we left, and I could go on. The food was not bad but it definitely wasn't great either. What a shame, we came here for a nice experience but would not do it again
