Palazzina B Contemporary Studio

Beautiful apartment in the historic district of Genoa. Modern accommodations, very well maintained and clean. Location is about a 15 minute walk from most of the major attractions in Genoa. Please note the apartment is located in the pedestrian portion of the city and is not accessible by car. Covered parking is available at Porto Antico which is about a 10 minute walk away from the apartment. Our hostess also gave us a discount pass for the garage which help save on the parking costs.

Sadly a very mixed experience. Positives: modern, contemporary, spacious, clean. The location is an easy walk to places to eat, shopping, some historical features. Washing machine meant we could wash clothes while travelling, always a bonus. Humidifier helps keep the air a little fresher as it is a little dark. Very safe and secure with private entry and heavily locked doors. Stayed four nights in superior studio. Main negative experiences: -wifi was so poor and inconsistent that we stopped using it altogether then we couldn’t connect for the last two and a half days. Messaged the team after a day thinking it may just be a temporary glitch and no response. -plug in our bathroom got stuck in the closed position and we couldn’t use it for last two days impacting on brushing teeth and shaving, etc. Messaged the team and it was acknowledged but no one came to fix it, or if they did we certainly didn’t get a message back to say why it wasn’t fixed. -shower is tiny to move around in. -coffee sachets don’t get replaced during daily servicing. Same with bottles of water but not sure if you just get one bottle per person regardless of how long you stay. -no plug for kitchen sink so had to wash dishes in a kitchen pot. No bowls to mix up a salad in so had to use cooking pot. Kitchenette is just missing a couple of essential items. -went to put water in the iron and it began leaking all over the place, not usable. This place genuinely has the potential to be fantastic. If you stay for one or two nights the above points won’t really matter. Stay for four or more nights and you notice the cracks in the details, beyond the surface of good looks and location. You want a place that you look forward to going back to at the end of a long day and these challenges meant we didn’t really. Given our experiences we generally don’t feel this was what we paid for. My advice for Palazzina B is just to pay attention to the detail under the surface. Get that right and I would happily give five stars.

I have no knowledge of the quality of the accommodation. I became ill and cancelled the day before arrival. The accommodation charged me the full amount of the travel time, contrary to their rules. Despite repeated requests, I have not received a receipt for the withheld amount.
