We booked the San Marco room for our 4 day stay in Florence and ended up leaving after one night and finding a new hotel due to the state of the room. The largest issue is the cleanliness – every piece of fabric or upholstery I could see, aside from the sheets and towels, was covered in stains. I didn't even want to sit on the couch or chairs. The bathrooms had mildew in every crevice and there appeared to be the beginning of a black mold infestation in the corner. The place is also just generally in disrepair. Only one of faucets (hot) worked in the upstairs bathroom. There were a number of insects, including mosquitos, inside the space. The tub had multiple spots where the glazing had chipped off showing rusty metal, not a place you'd want to take a bath. The walls are cracked with flaking paint. There was a broken outlet that opened into a hole in the wall – hopefully you didn't bring any small children that would stick their fingers in there. While it is listed as being soundproof, conversations in the hallway resonated through the open space and there is also a colony of pigeons outside the window so you can listen to them coo and rustle all night. While it looks like a charmingly rustic place in the photos they share, this place clearly crossed the line into a true dump a while ago. There are far better places to stay in Florence in a similar price range. We asked for a refund for the remaining nights after leaving and the owners declined despite us sharing how the room did not align with the listing. After this initial response they stopped responding and we are disputing the charge with our credit card.

AVOID THIS HOTEL! ROOMS NOT AS ADVERTISED. After I read more reviews here, I realized that a lot of people faced the same thing. The Rooms you get is not the ones you see online. I had 9 night booked, I checked out after 1 night and they refused to refund me any money. It is not as advertised and the staff are rude. The furniture is broken (picture), the ACs and heaters don’t work. The toilet doors don’t even close and when we asked for a key, they gave us the ridiculous excuse that they don't offer toilet keys for safety reasons.
