Palihotel Culver City

We just stayed two nights at Palihotel Culver City before a flight back to Brisbane. After looking at a few places, we booked this place and were very happy we did. This was the perfect location with heaps of places to eat within a minute of the hotel. Train station only 10 mins walk and we were down at Santa Monica within 45 mins. The room was great, really nice decor with big bathroom and comfy bed. Staff were helpful, and Culver City has a really relaxed, cool atmosphere day and night. Having only two days, we didn't explore much of LA, so it might be difficult if you are looking to use public transport to get to other parts of LA, but you'll have that problem wherever you stay. When we are back in LA, this will be at the top of our list again.

DO NOT STAY HERE UNLESS YOU’RE READY TO MEET WHAT LIVES THERE. We checked into Room 306. Something felt off the second we walked in — like the air was thicker. At 5AM, we both woke up to tapping — not on the window, but on the bathroom plexiglass. Over and over. It stopped every time we opened our eyes… and started again the moment we closed them. That’s not normal. Then — the TV shuts off by itself. We look for the remote. It’s under the bed. We never touched it. That was the moment we realized: we were not alone. We switched to Room 106 thinking we’d be safe. Nah. That door banged open and shut all night — loud, violent, nonstop. No A/C, no draft, just pure, unexplainable chaos. We didn’t sleep. We sat there in silence, frozen, staring at the bathroom like we were waiting for something to come out. The hotel is beautiful. The staff is kind. But these rooms? Absolutely haunted. 306 and 106 — something is in there, and it doesn’t want peace. Bring sage. Bring a priest. Or don’t go at all.

This hotel fell short of expectations in several areas. A fire alarm test was conducted during our stay, which was not communicated to us, leaving me in a panic during a relaxing shower. While the hotel's location near the hospital was convenient for our purposes, the overall experience was marred by this oversight. Furthermore, the air conditioning unit was noisy, forcing us to turn it off. Considering the hotel's pricing, we expected a higher level of service and attention to detail. Unfortunately, the issues we encountered detracted from our stay and left us feeling underwhelmed. While the hotel's location is a major advantage, we would caution potential guests to carefully consider the amenities and services provided. With some improvements, this hotel could reach the expected level of quality, but as it stands, it falls short.
