I organized a corporate outing for my colleagues at the historic Palmer House. I chose the Spa and then Potter's Bar for a more casual yet upscale feel. Our experience was outstanding and extremely well-organized. I have to give credit to Jay, the Director of Outlets. I was blown away by his level of professionalism and genuine care. If you are looking for an intimate corporate outing, look no further. The hotel's stunning architecture and an unmatched richness of culture set it apart from any other place in Chicago.
We had a nice stay. We stayed in the 23rd floor, which was the old executive lounge (and the private elevator to the floor was actually quite cool). It was a bummer they still didn't have the lounge, but we had a very spacious room and a good view. We had two bathrooms, which was actually more convenient than I would have expected! Good location to hit public transportation and a short walk to the art museum. The lobby still wows. And the staff were very great. I had Hilton Diamond status, which was the main reason I stayed here, and I did enjoy the food credit for drinks at the lobby bar. If you can get a deal here, worth staying, but not if you can find other hotels that are cheaper in the area (as there are many great options, and this hotel is a little dated).
I stayed here for 5 nights to take an exam. The location is great, very close to public transit and great tourist areas. The hotel itself is lovely and very historic. The walls of the rooms are a bit thin, but it is what it is. Every staff member I interacted with was extremely kind and helpful. I only have two complaints. First, my bathroom did not have a fan and seemed to get and stay very damp, even when the door was left open. The bathroom had a mildewy smell after a day or two of my stay. The air circulation in my room overall didn't seem the best. It would've been nice if there was a bathroom fan so I could at least feel like the bathroom was drying out. Second, the room service options were so disappointing! Even when I was super close to splurging on room service for the convenience, there was nothing on the menu that looked remotely appealing. It would be great if there were more dessert options for room service and if the menu more closely mirrored the hotel restaurant(s). Overall though these are minor complaints and I had a great stay.
