Palmstone Retreat Kithulgala

We stayed at Palmstone Retreat for 3 nights in a suite with a plunge pool. The hotel informed us about the road getting there and offered complimentary transportation from the main road where we could park our car. We opted to go in our car since our car had high clearance. It took about 25 minutes to get there. The views from the road to the hotel were amazing and was filled with rubber and tea estates, mountains, Rambutan trees, etc. We were greeted by Sithara who was going to be our personal butler. He gave us his number so we could contact him through whatsapp and give food choices (cell service is spotty sometimes, but wifi was available throughout the property) The Sri Lankan food served for breakfast was really great, aesthetic and had subtle favors. The dinner was average and had a few choices. The menu did not have many vegetarian options, but Sithara arranged a few vegetarian options off the menu for the day. He made us feel welcome and safe in this small retreat in the middle of a big rainforest. Special shout out to Sameera for being our tour guide. He took us on a tour to the waterfall that is 20 minutes away which had breathtaking views and showed us places where we could swim on the river with the hotel-provided life-jackets. He also took us to the Kithulgala Belilena (cave). The room was spacious, beautiful and clean. We had the waterfall and the rainforest as our view and it was amazing view to wake up to. The bathroom was also spacious and clean and also included a sauna. The plunge pool was warm and inviting. We saw other guests only a couple of times, and we felt like we had the whole place to ourselves. Overall this hotel is a gem in the middle of the rainforest in a quiet and serene environment with spacious rooms, delicious breakfasts, breathtaking views and great hospitality.

What an amazing place to relax and it is ideal for a romantic gateway. Exceptional customer service and the staff members are really friendly and helpful. The hotel has beautiful suites with a private plunge pool and sauna. The food is really good and they have a wide range of dishes available to order as well. An amazing location that has adventures activities with a beautiful waterfall nearby. We had an amazing View advisor/Guide named Sameera who is friendly and helpful that has an amazing knowledge around the surrounding areas near the hotel. I highly recommend this beautiful hidden resort to spend a peaceful wonderful time with your loved ones.

Incredible boutique hotel in the midst of the Sri Lankan highland jungle. The rooms, setting and staff would deserve a 7+. Also the nearby river was magic and although we got nearly 24hrs of rain, you never forget such a place. Unfortunately there were some minor issues like the steam bath that didn't work, they didn't serve wine, the food was not at the same level as what the place is aspiring to be. But please if you can, do spend one night there. Absolutely memorable.
