Parador de Ayamonte

Stunning views! We arrived late in the evening and we're greeted by attentive staff. Rooms were clean and comfortable and breakfast was very good. Definitely recommended.

Room: big and modern with great views. Comfortable bed. Restaurant: good service. Food hit and miss with few vegetables offered with main courses. Great views over the Guadiana river. Bar: not so great and we had to go to the bar to order drinks as service was slow to non existent. Reception: very good and helpful service. Breakfast: Good selection of food and the al a carte cooked food was nice. Overall: Nice hotel but could be so much better if the service in the bar area was more efficient and more English was spoken.

We had lunch only, we didn't stay at the hotel itself. The location is beautiful and very well maintained, with stunning view over the Guadiana River and the bridge between Spain and Portugal. The restaurant is nice, tables are large and well spaced, it is possible to eat on the outside terrace, but that day was a little too windy. The menu is short but there is choice for every taste. Service is perfect, smiling and friendly, but also formal. Our expectation from a luxury hotel's restaurant was to have gourmet food, this was not exactly the case. The dishes I enjoyed the most are the potatoes and ham croquettes and the chocolate and salted caramel dessert, I only regret that the chocolate sauce was one of those ready made sauces, I don't like that, next time I will ask the same without the topping. Altogether, I have been happy with the overall experience and will return to enjoy the place and the truly professional service.
