We booked this hotel on hotels.com. It was a good price for London for 2 nights. We were a little hesitant after reading some of the reviews on here but, we were not disappointed! We had a lovely stay, friendly staff, the room was clean, comfortable bed & the location was central. The only downside was the room did not have a fridge but we would definitely stay again!
For this price, I’d book a hostel private suite before this hotel. To be fair, I booked a standard double room last minute, other guests who had similar rooms on other floors have had better experiences, however I did not. The room was in the basement, felt and smelled like a closet and the AC unit was not working well. Breakfast is not included, you hear your neighbors (kind of like a hostel) the entire time as the walls are paper thin, and the staff was not friendly upon check in. Very unimpressed especially with a four star rating.
I’ve never had such a bad experience at a hotel before this booking. There are mice running throughout the lobby (to which we showed concierge and he was not at all surprised, advised that sometimes there are mice and an exterminator comes regularly, so he is due to be called again). You’ll notice rodent traps laying out in every corner of the hallways, stains on the chairs and sofa in the lobby. In our basement room we had mold on the ceiling, a window that would NOT shut which faced a dark dirty sewer like space entrapped between four cement walls. The odor was filling up the whole room not to mention the open window was a concern for pests to easily enter. The entryway for pests was especially stressful as our luggage and belongings were out and open (because the rooms are so small you can’t unpack or settle in at all). The shower curtain was hanging from a literal string, and we couldn’t figure out how to get the AC to work. The staff advised there was nothing they could do to address or accommodate our sanitary concerns, and so we were forced to check out at 1 AM before even sleeping there one night. We felt as if our skin was crawling and couldn’t even rest. It was difficult to find another hotel with availability that time of night and that late notice, not to mention pricey. The staff didn’t seem to care one bit for the inconvenience or stress of the situation honestly. I would not recommend this Inn!! :(
