Parkhotel Matrei

Only dinner, no stay. We had a well prepared dinner and really friendly staff. Book ahead if you want a good table outdoors on the terrace. Menu is varied, includes fish and vegetarian dishes as well. There hotel parking but also free parking at the train station across the street.

Very convenient hotel with lovely, wonderful staff just off highway between Italy (Vipiteno) and Innsbrook. Kids really enjoyed the quaint bowling alley and foosball table. The quadruple room was very nice and spacious. The only things I didn't love were overpaying for wine at dinner (we ordered 1/4 lt of house wine and paid 13 euros for Big John which only costs @ €10 for a full bottle in the store) and the online check-in had me pay for the room in advance but when I checked out they said they never received it so I'll have to take the time to check my bank that I didn't double pay. Avoid the online check-in as they never received any of the data I took the time to input including information on all parties. That said I would definitely return.

Late in the evening, this hotel still could offer us a place to stay the night. It was a great luxuous room and the breakfast was great as well (also with a Gluten-Free option). It was not cheap, but worth it. Another big plus was the sustainability policy of the hotel, which can be recognised in the whole place.
