Patravana Resort

Nice resort. I spent 1 night during weekdays. Hardly any guests. Location is excellent. Night time temperature much lower than Bangkok due to higher elevation and mountain. We had a very good sleep without using A/C. Room may needs some upgrade though. Fitness room is available.

In general I liked this resort. I will start with positives first: 1) The location is great it’s not far from Khao Yai park entrance. 2) The territory of this hotel is huge which is great for walking. 3) You can take free bikes to have a ride around. 4) It is also nicely taken care of, bushes are trimmed, flowers are in bloom, there is some garden decor around! 5) There are several separate buildings to live in. To go to breakfast you need to walk along the lake on the other side. 6) Breakfast was ok. There is a coffee machine. But see later in negatives. 7) There is a swimming pool and big and refreshing and there is a little pool for kids) 8) There is also a kids’ playground which is great if you travel with a toddler. 9) Rooms inside are specious and cozy, the bedsheets are so clean that even squeak. 10) There’s a microwave!!! 11) The view from the balcony is gorgeous. 12) There is a shower and jacuzzi which I used the first day with pleasure. Now negatives: 1) On the first day I could get enough food as numerous Indian families who stayed at the same time as us had taken most of the food. So I was even left hungry after breakfast. I know, this is not a hotel’s fault. The food was ok, but nothing special. 2) The elevator does not seem to work properly. I pressed it many times no reaction. See my video. So I had to use stairs several times. 3) Inside the room I felt like it smelled cigarettes. Also it smelled bed from the toilet. 4) On the second day hot water stopped coming. They tried to fix it but no result. The hotel management, however, is very good and tries to solve all problem’s they gave me keys from another room to use hot shower until the rest of my stay (evening and morning) and apologized many times for this inconvenience. 5) The hotel feels dated. Overall, even though the hotel feels a bit dated, but it was cozy and clean. It is family-friendly with big rooms, huge green territory and good management.

The room is very big for ~2500 Baht. The location is nice and quiet. Good for relaxing and escaping from the big city. However, the facility, room, building, and furniture are very old. The furniture is dirty and discolored. There is no cable TV or any entertainment service. You have to sign-in to your own Netflix account on the TV. The most frustration is, everything in the bathroom didn't work properly. The toilet cannot flush down sometimes. The sink couldn't drain water, so we had to call the room service to fix it. The bathtub is dirty and old. The hot water system is also broken. It's clearly the room needs a renovation. Many people review that the restaurant is great. But we tried it, and couldn't agree with that. The dinner is just fine. But the breakfast is better. They provide a variety of local drinks and breakfast such as Fried bread and Thai tea. Other foods are not that good. We had a good sleep. Although the facility isn't good, the staff's service is great. The staff are friendly and nice. And the location is very quiet.
