Paço da Torre de Figueiredo das Donas

Do you know this feeling when you're staying at a place and you just don't want to leave? Paço da Torre is such a piece of paradise on Earth. It's gorgeously located on the top of a hill with beautiful views on the countryside all around. The building itself has been impressively restored offering huge rooms with all modern comfort and big beds with perfect mattresses. We spent two nights at this place and were lucky enough to have a chat with the very nice owners before they returned to Porto for the week. The rest of our stay we had the whole place for ourselves as we were the only couple staying here (with a housekeeper taking care of us). Breakfasts were copious and yummy, and one evening we also had dinner here which was really delicious. Most probably this was the stay we enjoyed most during our two weeks in the North of Portugal. (Only negative aspect - if you are one of these people having difficulty believing reviews that sound too positive - is that the housekeeper only speaks Portuguese... making it a challenge for us to compliment her on her excellent cooking and for spoiling us!)

I loved staying at this little haven. What a wonderful surprise, as I was not sure what to expect and what to expect from the area it is in. Lovely staff and wonderful accommodations. Excellent breakfast, surroundings for relaxing or walking around. I loved room views and comfortable mattresses. I wish I had more time spend here.

Gorgeous views and professional staff. Needs a bit of TLC. Room windows not cleaned and room smelled like cigarettes, kids pool not cleaned. No shampoo or hair conditioner in room. And perhaps greeting guest with cold beverage upon arrival would of been a nice touch
