Penny Williamsburg

What a unique place to stay! There are GREAT BOOKS in the room, which is also furnished with original art and beautiful throw pillows and modern touches. We felt at home and pampered. The bed is comfortable with little sconces for reading all the BOOKS! A giant window faced the iconic Giglio feast -- who can ask for more? There is a rooftop restaurant with great views (but I loved the little secret leafy outdoor patio on the 2nd floor). Excellent location in Williamsburg close to everything. Room for improvement: we didn't understand the light switches and shower knobs but maybe we're luddites. The bathroom is tiny with no fan or window, and a strange opaque glass door so it doesn't feel private, but the finishes and bath products are lovely. Big shower. For the price, a complimentary breakfast buffet or any breakfast would have been nice. Overall: stellar concierge, a fun place. We loved our visit and would be thrilled to stay here again!

My wife and I enjoyed our stay at the Penny. They allowed us to occupy our room ahead of schedule since it was ready. The room was nicely kept, although a bit small, it had everything we needed. The cleaning service was great and the ladies servicing the rooms were polite and did a good job. The restaurant at the top of the hotel is to be experienced. Food was properly prepared, and the service was very good. The bar has an amazing array of choices with highly skilled mixologist. Enjoy your visit.

A Comfortable Stay with a Dining/Bar Disappointment. I recently stayed at the Penny Williamsburg and overall, it was a pleasant experience. The hotel itself is very nice and clean, modern, and well-maintained. The room I stayed in was comfortable quiet, and thoughtfully furnished. Housekeeping was consistent, and the front desk staff were courteous and helpful. However, I did have a disappointing experience at the hotel bar. I noticed that the staff were serving different liquors out of mislabeled bottles, which felt deceptive. For example, I ordered a drink expecting a specific brand, only to find it clearly wasn’t what was advertised. When I brought it up, there was not much transparency or accountability from the bartender. In fact she showed me the clear bottle with a label strip showing what it was. I look at amasment and said you got to be kidding and made her open a real bottle of Vodka. She did not seem happy at all. While I enjoyed the overall stay, I would recommend guests exercise caution if they choose to order from the bar. If management addresses this issue, this hotel has the potential to offer a great experience across the board.
