Pestana Douro Riverside Preferred hotels & Resorts

Loved this hotel so much. It's a little bit out of Porto centre on the banks of the Douro, but it's very easy to get into Porto. The hotel itself has the most wonderful infinity pool looking out over the Douro, which was perfect for hot summer days. The staff were all super lovely and incredibly helpful. Breakfast was fabulous, plenty of choice and lots of fresh fruit and other goodies, including fizz, so you can start your day with a mimosa. The Great Daisy bar is a really special room to sit in and enjoy a late night cocktail. Beds were really comfortable and the toiletries in the room had a gorgeous fresh scent. I hope to return one day.

Recently stayed for one night after getting a great deal following our trip in Porto! We got upgraded to a river view which was great, the rooms are luxurious and big! The bathroom was great and view was wonderful! The staff were amazing and super attentive The pool area had plenty of sunbeds too We were aware of the distance from Porto which was no issue for us (use Bolt- they’re cheaper) The breakfast was also great too! Our only con would be the pool lunch menu is expensive for what it is and portions were on the small side Overall, would stay again & recommend to others!

Whilst a lovely, clean and quiet hotel, I don’t consider it 5 star. The breakfast was not great. No hot food station for freshly cooked eggs etc. Toaster was out of service and coffee machine didn’t work for our first breakfast. Rooms are small particularly the bathroom. Shower floor dangerously slippery and no room to put cosmetics etc. Clothes hanging space limited and no drawers. Had to keep most of our clothes in the suitcases. On the plus side most of the staff were friendly and helpful and the pool area and river view is fabulous. We knew when we booked that it is away from the centre but factor in the taxi fares there and back. Prices range from 6 euros to 17. Never paid the same amount twice! It was my birthday whilst there (they were aware) no acknowledgment. I appreciate this is something you should not expect but every hotel we have stayed at for our birthdays there have been nice touches eg wine or chocs so don’t feel this hotel warrants 5 stars
