We spent a week here, the staff is very friendly and helpful. We were received with a welcome drink. My daughter is vegetarian, when she didn’t find proper food, they prepared something for her. You can see the ocean from the terrace, it was important for me 😊 There is a hotel bus that takes you to Funchal 2-times a day for free. You can have lunch package aa well if you plan a longer tour or hike. Thank you for the great time!
Perfect location, right on the Atlantic Ocean, with lots of local restaurants and pubs close by. The room was very comfortable, clean with a great view of the coast. The reception team was very kind and helpful. Big terrace with sun beds. Breakfast buffet was really good, very good drinks at the bar right at the entrance. Definitely recommended Pestana Vila Lido Hotel.
Very nice hotel and holiday destination. All the staff are very cheerful and clearly work hard. The 2 pools are great and their are plenty of sun loungers. The beach is adjacent to the hotel (literally 2 meters from rear entrance). The rooms are of a good standard, clean and comfortable. There is no air con but if you leave the balcony door open you get sea breeze all night and the sound of the ocean so that helps with sleeping. Food is standard buffet type meals with a wide variety of choices, but these are replicated most evenings, there doesn't seem to be themed nights so an occasional meal out is essential. Shuttle bus into Funchal centre picks up twice a day for free and there are multiple paid bus links too. It's only 15 mins to get to the city centre and then there is lots to do or any number of trips and excursions you can book. The only downside is the hotel is situated at the bottom of very steep hills on all sides so if you want to walk somewhere local the first 10 mins are quite arduous. The coastal walk is very nice though if you just want a stroll and no hills. There is self service for soft drinks, hot beverages and beer available all day and other drinks can be got from the bar until 11pm.
