Our stay was incredible. John made sure to give us local tips—he was friendly and treated us like family. Mary from the restaurant was also amazing; she went above and beyond to make us feel special. We are truly grateful for people like you who make us feel so welcome and inspire us to want to come back soon. Keep up the great work. Your hospitality is out of this world. Many blessings! Rooms in Madrid that are under 225€ in April are generally incredibly small, including ones in the “luxury” hotels. This hotel, apart from having an incredibly cool history (the oldest hotel in Madrid) had spacious rooms, a fabulous shower, very nice and plentiful amenities and a good convenient breakfast. I picked it at the last minute and was so pleased that I did. We stayed for one night on our way back from Andalusia to catch our plane the next morning and had a very fun evening in the area around the hotel. It’s steps from Plaza Mayor so you have to be willing to walk a block or two to get to it from your transportation. The young man who checked us in was totally fluent in English and Spanish and very gracious. We had a little trouble getting a taxi to the airport the next morning (my fault), and the young woman behind the desk went so far as to walk outside and several streets from the hotel with us, made calls to the taxi and pointed us in the right direction where we got the perfect one and made it to the airport with an hour to spare! I far prefer that kind of service as opposed to someone taking your bags when you walk thru the door, altho, I’m sure they would have helped you if you needed it. Also, we were traveling with a 12 year old and I must say I found everywhere in Spain “kid-friendly”.

The location was absolutely amazing — right in the city center, which made it very convenient. However, the hotel itself felt quite old. Some parts have clearly been renovated, but it still shows its age. There were no major issues with cleanliness, but overall it didn’t quite live up to the price. I understand the higher rate due to the central location, but still, it felt a bit expensive for what it offered. Breakfast wasn’t particularly impressive. I wouldn’t say I was unhappy with my stay, but I’m not sure I’d choose this hotel again at the same price.
