Our last hotel on our European summer tour. The room was cool and comfortable. Quiet at night with a comfy bed and pillows. Shower was really nice. Breakfast was very good, fresh and hot with the usual buffet suspects, eggs and bacon/sausages, grains and cereals, breads and pastries and a whole array of lovely fresh fruits, meats and cheeses. Staff were friendly and helpful and the hotel is situated very centrally to many sights, gardens, restaurants and drinks. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would use this hotel again. Bitter sweet as it’s the end of our adventure, but a fantastic city and a fantastic hotel.
We spent several nights here a few weeks back and will certainly return next time we're in Madrid. On previous visits to the city we've stayed at a larger property on Paseo del Prado and preferred that the Savoy Alfonso XII offered a quieter setting adjacent to Madrid's beautiful park, while still being a convenient quick walk to many fine restaurants and art museums. This Petit Palace has only a modest lobby off the street, but its elevators were generally fast and not crowded; there was also a spacious curving staircase which we only chose to try once. The floor layout was particular, as expected for an older property, but our room was spacious with good light and a view, while still being quiet. We also appreciated that the sink was separate from the shower and toilet. We were there on several hot days and also welcomed the efficient air conditioning unit. On days when we were in town and stayed for breakfast we found the spacious lower level dining areas offered a good selection of fruits, cheeses and baked goods at a reasonable price, although it was not initially clear that eggs were also available cooked on request and it took a few minutes to work the two (different) coffee machines we encountered which present many options. The hotel's relaxed atmosphere made for a very pleasant visit, especially compared to larger and more crowded properties elsewhere. Although there isn't a doorman, the front counter staff were accommodating in assuring that a car service was waiting for us on the morning we left for the airport and we look forward to returning!
I loved this hotel. The location was great, the room was huge, the bathroom was modern and large, and the service was excellent. We were there during the blackout, and they were so patient and helpful. While the room didn't have power, they still had wifi and kept the restaurant open for cold food. With 2 balconies, the room got plenty of light and the view of the park was great. I would highly recommend this hotel.
