This summer, based on my daughter's choice, we spent our holiday at Hotel Petra Mare in the town of Ierapetra. It's hard to put into words, but out of all our family vacations, this was by far the best. The location is fantastic; being so close to the beach meant everything to us. Breakfast on the terrace with the sound of the sea, lunch, dinner, and evening relaxation... it was a wonderful experience. The hotel staff were delightful, and I have nothing negative to say. A special thanks to Maria, the Guest Relationship Manager—such a kind and caring employee is very rare! I hope she is truly appreciated. The rooms were spotlessly clean and the staff made sure of that; their efforts were clearly felt. The rooms were comfortable and appropriately sized—not too large, but that’s typical in Greece. The meals were varied and prepared with very good quality ingredients, which was a definite plus for everyone in our family. I feel we will certainly return! Thank you for everything!
Good and taste food, a lot of different dishes to choose. The only minus food disappears very quickly, but also it is prepared just on time, so for sure everything is fresh, we can see the kitchen. The view is perfect, sea is visible from restaurant, pool and rooms (if taken sea view). Service is good, hotel is very clean, rooms are cleaned every day. Easy access to the beach, a lot of sun-beds everywhere, even you can find adults area. The beach is sandy. The pool is big with nice view. Cocktail bar available all the time without queue. We arrived at 9, so we didn’t receive room at the reception, but we received all inclusive bracelets and lockers for our luggages (personal with access any time), there is also available few changing rooms for people waiting their room (with shower) About bedroom, ours was comfortable, large with quite new furnitures. Bathroom was well equipped. For us, the only negative point for us was the animation after 22:30. They are cutting music, so nothing is going. It’s mostly place for family, a lot of equipment for children, special pool with a lot of structures, kids club, and even a place for children under shadow at the beach.
We spent our all-inclusive vacation at this hotel in Crete, and overall, it left a good impression, though there were a few issues worth mentioning. First of all, the cleanliness was excellent – both the rooms and the common areas were very well maintained. Housekeeping did a great job every day, which we really appreciated. The food was tasty, but unfortunately quite repetitive – after a few days it felt like we were eating the same dishes with slight variations. On the bright side, the drinks were very good and freshly made, which made relaxing by the bar much more enjoyable. The pool area with water slides for kids was definitely a highlight – our children loved it and spent most of their time there. However, I have to mention a very concerning incident that occurred during our stay. One of the parasols detached from its base and flew straight into the children's pool area – it was a miracle that no one was hurt. This was extremely alarming and we were shocked that such a safety issue could happen. The hotel absolutely needs to ensure that all equipment around the pool is properly secured to prevent accidents like this. As for the rooms – they were clean and comfortable, but unfortunately not well soundproofed. We could hear everything from the hallway and the room above us, which made it hard to fully relax, especially at night. All in all, it’s a hotel with potential, good service, and enjoyable facilities, but it definitely needs to improve some areas, especially in terms of guest safety.
